Neulich nahm ich an einer Umfrage teil. Diese wurde vom Institut Sinus Sociovision Heidelberg, welches laut Homepage Wissenschaftler aus verschiedensten Disziplinen beschäftigt, durchgeführt. Diese bezog sich auf die Integration von Migranten, wobei allein dieser Begriff schon Ursprung gewisser Probleme sein sollte. Einen Teil der Ergebnisse habe ich sogar später zufällig unter dem Titel „Zuwanderer bereichern Heidelberg“ im Heidelberger Stadtblatt gefunden, wobei mich die wenigstens Menschen als Zuwanderer bezeichnen würden – als Bereicherung natürlich schon ;-). Aber nun gut einer der laut Stadtblatt 505 zufällig Befragten „Zuwanderer“, Bedingung war mindestens ein Elternteil aus dem Ausland kommend, war ich, Muttersprache Deutsch, Bildung in Deutschland etc. Dieses Kriterium blieb im Stadtblatt unerwähnt, nun bin ich eben ein Zuwanderer. Damit es heimischer und vertrauenswürdiger wirken sollte – Achtung Spekulation – wurde ich durch eine Nichtmuttersprachlerin befragt, die, zu meinem Entsetzen, die Fragen so vorlas, dass diese doppeldeutig waren und ich in jedem Moment durch mangelnde Reflexion oder Kenntnis der deutschen Sprache - wie gesagt, ich, Muttersprachler, Umfrage tendenziell für Nichtmuttersprachler- mich für die Statistiker zum kriminellen Schmarotzer machen hätte können. Vorweggenommen die Umfrage empfand ich als unerhört und von Suggestivfragen durchsetzt – Die Person, die mich befragte kannte das Wort suggestiv allerdings nicht. So befragte sie mich. Die Option, diese Frage will ich aus Unverschämheit oder aus Mangel an neutraler Antwortmöglichkeit nicht beantworten, gab man mir nicht wirklich. Gefragt wurde: Ob ich erlebe, dass sich Deutsche vor mir zurückziehen. Hallo, ich sehe“ total deutsch“ aus und bin auch deutsch sozialisiert. Ob ich mich bemühe Deutsch zu sprechen. Eigentlich habe ich nicht das Gefühl, dass besondere Mühe angebracht wäre, aber niemand fragt nach der Vatersprache, die in meinem Fall interessanter wäre. Als nächstes (habe leider nicht alle Fragen direkt und haargenau notiert) wurde gefragt, ob mir meine Religion wichtiger sei, als das deutsche Gesetz! 1. Man fragte mich gar nicht, ob ich religiös sei. Nun bin ich moralisch. 2. Wäre es nicht seltsam, wenn ich, im meine eigene Moral, nicht als wichtiger als das Gesetz betrachten würde? 3. Wenn jemand also religiös ist, so soll ihm das deutsche Gesetz wichtiger sein? Und wer sagt überhaupt, dass man da gewichten muss oder sich beides widerspricht? Wie kann man eine solche Frage beantworten? Sollte ich in der Statistik einer der Ausländer, die für ihre Religion Gesetze brechen, die man dann im nächsten Augenblick zu Ehrenmördern uminterpretiert, sein? Und sind mir die Bräuche meines Herkunftslandes wichtiger als deutsche? Äh, trifft nicht zu, weil die Frage unpassend ist. Hallo, ich bin direkt aus dem Bauc zugewandert. Aber was soll da raus kommen? Ein xenophobiesteigerndes Ergebnis? Dürfen Ali oder Igor nicht allerlei Traditionen frönen. Bereicherung statt Armut? Ob ich denke, dass der Mann für die Familie sorgen muss? Ja. Und nun, nun bitte die Frage, ob die Frau. Ah, ätsch, kommt nicht mehr. Da ist man doch glatt drauf reingefallen und statistisch Anhänger des Patriachats? Dann bin ich halt ab jetzt konservativ und bleib zuhause. Ach, ich bitte um Zwangsheirat, dann muss ich nicht suchen! Jetzt aber zu den echten Werten. Geld. Pfeife ich denn auf Sicherheit und mache mir lieber ein aufregendes Leben? Hierzu sei angemerkt, dass meine Wortwahl sehr nahe an den Originalfragen grenzt. Hah, da habe ich doch hinterher auf der Homepage gelesen, dass auch namenhafte Banken Kunden von Sinus Sociovision sind. Kaufe ich denn Dinge ohne drüber nachzudenken, ob ich sie mir leisten kann? Wer sagt denn, dass ich arm bin? Ja, Ja, aber ob ich denn gerne provoziere? Ich? Nö. Vorsichtige Antwort. Der Ausländer ist ja nicht sarkastisch. Der Ausländer wäre, ist gewalttätig, temperamentvoll und unerzogen. Und deshalb lebe ich lieber von der Stütze als mich rumkommandieren zu lassen? Mmh, entweder oder? Na, dann rein in den Matsch. Und klassische Tugenden: ob die Bedeutung haben, so Sauberkeit und Sparsamkeit. Ich hätte an dieser Stelle gelacht, aber ich war bereits wütend. Der temperamentvolle Ausländer halt. Wo war mein Mann, der mir die Teilnahme an der Umfrage verboten hätte? Aber für Leute wie mich gibt es keine Chancen? Genau! Endlich spricht man mir aus dem Herzen. Nur wer bin ich. Okay, so ein paar Basisdaten hat man schon erfragt. Und ja diese kann man als mildernde Umstände gelten lassen. Aber meine Anklage bleibt, wenn ich doch doch nur die Chance hätte mich auszudrücken. Die guten Arbeiten werden den Ausländern nicht überlassen. Wie war. Naja, ein paar ausländische Ärzte gibt es schon, die nicht im Krankenhaus arbeiten, sondern tatsächlich eine Niederlassungslizenz bekommen haben. Wenn die Ehre meiner Familie auf dem Spiel steht, kenne ich keine Gnade. Was ist Ehre? Also wenn jemand meine kleine Schwester vergewaltigt, dann kenne ich keine Gnade, auch nicht vor dem deutschen Gesetz. Vor allem bin ich an der deutschen Lebensweise interessiert, die meines Herkunftslandes interessiert mich nicht. Wieder entweder oder? Und klar in Deutschland gibt es nur eine einzige Lebensweise. Wo bleibt der Hackbraten? Ob ich außer Haus gehe? Wie soll ich traditionsvernachlässigtes Wesen sonst einen anständigen Mann finden mit dem ich dann meine Herkunftssprache sprechen kann und der gefälligst für mich und meine kriminellen, verschwenderischen Kinder sorgt, finden? Dann wurden Veranstaltungen, Mitgliedschaften und so erfragt. Ich engagiere mich bei […]. Und ob der Ehepartner die gleiche Nationalität haben muss. Eigentlich gibt’s ja genug „Deutschtürken“. Ach, Hauptsache Mann. Wie gerne wohnt man den in Deutschland? Also nach der Umfrage bin ich ausgewandert. (Aber bin ich dann jetzt Zurückwanderer? Komisch, dass ich jetzt Ausländer bin) Fast zu guter Letzt kam der schlimmste Lesepatzer, ich ließ mir die Fragen ohnehin öfter vorlesen. Sie las und ich hörte: Wie stark fühlen sie sich Deutschland oder dem Herkunftsland/ihrer Familie hingezogen? Vor die Wahl gestellt Herkunftsland und Familie oder Deutschland, natürlich Deutschland! Es lebe meine Herkunftsland ohne mein Familie! Auf den allgemeinen Teil folgte ein Heidelberg spezifischer, so das Stadtblatt,. Da fragte man, ob Ausländer von der Stadt Heidelberg finanziell und in einer anderen Frage materielle Hilfe bekommen sollten. Na klar, gebt den stationierten Amerikanern gefälligst ein paar vernünftige Autos! Und sowieso ich will jetzt sofort meinen Urlaub bezahlt haben! Macht ihr das? Juhu! Dem Institut Sinus Sociovision sei dann auch gedankt, dass sie so toll meine Wünsche ermitteln! Es gab auch keine Option für eigene Kommentare. Interessiert ja niemanden. Sicherlich habe ich ein Paar, nicht die Mehrzahl der Fragen in der Erzählung ausgelassen Fast tat mir die „Ausländerin“ leid, die mich befragen musste.. Aber dafür war ich viel zu wütend. Wütend auf das Institut und ihre Auftraggeber. Das Ergebnis für Heidelberg: Mehr Asiaten als sonst wo, weniger Türken, mehr Bildung unter Ausländern. Das hätte ich ihnen auch ohne Umfrage erzählen können. Die Dönerladendichte ist schließlich viel zu gering und die Ausgaben für Forschung viel zu hoch, um nicht auch die Gebildeteren von uns anlocken zu können. Das sind doch dann die Asiaten oder nicht? Unter den Acht Typen, in die man uns, so Stadtblatt, einordnet, ist er bestimmt der Vorzeigeschüler und ich gehe dann mal lieber an den Herd...

Istanbul
People make each other stranger than they are. Living for five weeks in Istanbul I saw a proof that cross cutting cleavages through a society are a lot more important than the one between cultures.
With the knowlegde of all borders of culture being lose and dynamic, I sometimes saw myself being confronted with views which involve borders. I could observe that there was identity construction through me. As I was sometimes told of something being turkish, meanwhile me not seeing it particular as turkish. Was it introducing parts of a culture to me, reminding themselves of what is surpose to be turkish. I am really aware of identity construction, because I know reification is bullshit and done by anybody to simplify and it is me being mostly in charge of constructing my own identity. Still I felt as if anybody was trying to make me a part of "the Germans", was reducing me. The same people at the same time, overreacted if they just felt a slide hint of me saying something was turkish.
This all shows to me that even though you might be intellectually aware of the phenomena of In-group/ Outgroup processes, you could still do unconscienced. Even though you might say everybody is the same, you still look at the differences.
For my experiences, I didnt see a lot. It mostly depended on what you do as your job. Lifestyle is far less influrenced by cultural heritage as people believe.
Not to say culture isnt a factor. Rather saying that culture consists of multiple factors from which people choose, with the conclusion that after equation from different cultures similiar sums might come out.
Looking back at Istanbul, I just saw the lifestyle of my enviroment, which at the end didnt differ so much.

To my friends

Many people say, that in bad times it proves who is a friend and who is not.
For that I want to say "thank you" to all my true friends. You all seem to care so much about me!
As I really do about you. True friendship means willingness to give everything and never ask what you get out of it. Being there when you are needed, but not expecting anything. I enjoy just helping my friends and spending time, but I also accept when there is no time, even though that is a little sad. I always hope the best. Sometimes I might be jealous, but there is never greed, cause I wish the best for you...always and forever... as you being happy makes me happy to. Friendship means sharing, its joy together and grief together. But after all its knowing that you are not alone.
Sometimes I really feel weird and proud, how do I get so many good friend? So many of you...everyone of you being special for me and a part of my life. Knowing that you are there makes me feel confident and optimistic about life, even though I am not an optimist...
I would do everything I can for you, since you are my life...
For all that I want to say "thank you" as I love you.
"Thank you" for exsisting and thank you for being my friend(s)!

Das eigene Bett

Das eigene Bett ist eine Insel, man kann sich dort verkriechen. Ich kann überall schlafen, doch wenn es mir schlecht geht, dann ist nichts besser als mein Bett.
Die Decke über den Kopf und heulen. Wie sehr man doch das eigene Bett schätzt, wenn man es nicht hat in solchen Momenten, in denen man nichts mehr möchte als sich verkriechen!
Heimat kann für mich überall sein, da meine Freunde verstreut sind
...aber es ist vor allem da wo mein Bett ist!
Es gibt eine besondere Stärke, Ruhe und Frieden.

Freedom of Will (Willensfreiheit)

As Schopenhauer says "Humans can do what they want, but never want what they want". I dont believe in Willensfreiheit as there is never such a thing as an independent decision. A simple example: a (I want to go and play soccer now.) depends on A (I like soccer.), which depends on several things as I have played the game before and as I expierinced it as something nice. Which means there are conditions making me want this. This is a simple example but it clearly shows that my "will" depends on things. I need to know to decide. What I know depends on my previous life, my desires depend on what my context is. You are the product of everything what happens in life and for that you really dont have a lot of choice about anything. Your agency is deeply connected with the structure you are born in, even though the structure is dynamic and changes, you are always a part of it. Christian belief of god giving "the free will" to humankind is totally going wrong. As first to have this free will, you would need to be free of all moral judgements, to no condition prefer anything while making a decision. You would have to know about all possible actions and also know about all consequences. Otherwise the direction of your will would depend on knowledge and expierince. To be able to know everything, you would have to be??? God itself. Do I think everything is determed? Yes and No. More Yes then No as everything is connected to some point, humans can decide, but every decision depends on context. Going back to my example, if I was asked if I want to play soccer or go to lecture, I would want to play soccer, even though maybe thinking that going to a lecture might be good for me and partly thinking I should want to go to the lecture...but I couldnt do anything about my "want". If I had a free will I should be able to create my desire, "want what I want" (inspired by Hume, Fay, Hobbes and Schopenhauer)

To look into the distance is always a weird feeling. Being interested in what happens and looking forward to what time brings, but to some degree be nervous about it. Always trying to search for something... a moment of joy.
But most important realizing the greatness of moments.
There is always somebody out there being less happy,

but when there is a moment of joy, take it and keep it...
...be satisfied and feel like you are the "happiest person"
as you can be...
